What is it?

Operation Olive d’Or is a contest and a showcase of your virgin olive oils at the SIAL Montréal 2008.

Olive d’Or is an international extra virgin olive oil contest, respecting the norms of the "International Olive Oil Council" COI.

The olive oils are divided into three categories:

  • light fruity
  • fruity medium
  • strong fruity

The winners of each category are rewarded with the following prizes:

  • Goutte d'Or
  • Goutte d'Argent
  • Goutte Bronze

The results of the contest will be announced Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the " Canadian Agrifood Export Gala " hosted by Agrifood Export Group Québec-Canada under the SIAL Montréal 2008.

The Golden Olive Area, in ths area, professionals will be able to taste your olive oils.
This paid service will enhance your visibility during the show. It includes: 

  • 3 days of presence in the olive oil area.
  • database of visitors and professionals who have tasted or will be interested to your olive oil.

Registration Fee:

  • Package 1: $ 210 CND presented by product
    = Participation + contests presence under glass
  • Package 2: $ 510 CND presented by product.
    = Participation + contests presence under glass and tasting sample

Conditions

Participants are exhibitors or non-exhibitors.

Criteria

  • oil extra virgin olive
  • less than 0.8% oleic acid
  • following a uniform batch of a minimum of 3000 liters
  • no distributor brand are accepted


Classification, 3 categories: light fruity, medium fruity and intensely fruity. Each participant may:

  • enroll in one or more categories
  • not submit a single product category by the same private or cooperative mill or producer

  NOTE:
The nomination form must be returned before before March 15, 2008.
Any unpaid registration on these dates will be automatically removed from the competition.

Members of the Jury

The jury is composed of international experts (specialists in the industry Olive, chefs, journalists…).
 
It is chaired by Dr. Christine Cheylan. Expert in the field of olive cultivation, she has chaired many national and international competitions. Very involved in the world Olive formed professional tasting, it is a producer, manager of an oil mill, a consultant in olive growing and vowed to contest.
